Hemodynamic Session, Video 2: Percutaneous LVADs and RVADs for Heart Failure: No More Drips?

Session Summary, Hemodynamic Session, Video 2

One of the challenges with heart failure patients is assessing the patient's status to decide whether or not a support device should be used. The concept of using hemodynamic monitoring and right heart catheterization to improve outcomes was addressed, and has been associated with better outcomes in several trials because the patient management is more precise. A standardized patient algorithm is needed, but there is a great deal of variability in these patients. The pros and cons of the different support devices are also outlined.
