Discussion revolved around whether or not LAA patients with atrial fibrillation should undergo LAA closure. Complication rates with LAA closure can be significant, but new devices are promising better outcomes. The European experience with LAA closure has been varied due to reimbursement policies that do not encourage the procedure in many countries. The topic of proper anticoagulation regimens post LAA closure was also explored.
